Taylor Swift - We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

If you date Taylor Swift, there's a very good chance she's going to write a song about you. At this point, we're pretty sure she makes all her potential suitors sign a release saying she's entitled to use their relationship as material for her chart-topping tunes.

Though Swift has made the subjects of her previous songs pretty obvious -- John Mayer, Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner -- she's kept quiet about whom her latest single, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," was written about.

In an interview with "Nightline," Swift explained that the inspiration for the song came after one of her ex-boyfriend's friends came into the studio and said he had heard they were getting back together -- which was not the case.

"When he leaves, Max and Johan are like, ‘So what’s the story behind that?’ And so I start telling them the story of break up, get back together, break up, get back together, just, ugh, the worst," she explained.

So who is Swift's mystery man? It's not Joe Jonas, who actually spoke out to eliminate himself as a potential candidate.

"I can say it's not about me, because I don't think we've ever tried another time. I can tell you it's not about me. I think we're cool. It's pretty years removed," he told Maryland radio station 94.7 Fresh FM.

Now, a source tells Us Weekly (via Hollywood Life) what we knew all along -- Swift's breakup anthem is "definitely about Jake [Gyllenhaal]."

Though the guy she cast in her "whimsical" video for the song looks more like Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, there are plenty of other hints that it's Jake who exhausted her with his emotional whims.

Swift's video boyfriend wears a navy blue down vest that's very similar to a jacket Gyllenhaal wore on one of their dates. Then there is the matter of the scarf that the video beau gives her, which reminds us of photos of Swift wearing Gyllenhaal's scarf.

Then there is the bracelet Swift is wearing in the video, which looks suspiciously like the $100,000 one that Gyllenhaal was rumored to have given her for her birthday.

But the denouement to this mystery is the fact that Swift and Gyllenhaal broke up and got back together. In January 2011 it was reported that the couple broke up, but just a few days later the pair were spotted having dinner in Nashville, sparking rumors they had reconciled.
